SHINOBI DROP
The Unveiling
An empty window, a forgotten space mirrors the quiet folds of everyday life on the street. But today, a veil lifts in the city, something rare emerges behind an invisible curtain; an ephemeral artwork.
A mosaic of black and white waits for its location to be echoed, to send a signal, to signal presence at the Hideout.
An artifact now fills the void, the window has become a frame and Shadowplay begins...
Check the current location of an artwork and the Hideout in Echolocation.
THE LIGHT WORK
The exhibited canvas
A singular creation left behind by Shinobi X - a lesson in alchemy and positive transmutation.
It cannot be downloaded or duplicated; a rare, ephemeral, artifact always at risk.
The Light work appears without warning inside a Ninja Hideout, drawing seekers from the shadows. It may be secured by a Lone Wolf, unlocked by the Hidden Hands or a Phantom who does not play games, but it never waits long.
If a lease to the Hideout is signed, the light vanishes.
Now you see it. Now you don't.
To acquire Light work visit Purchase.

THE SHADOW WORK
The gifted canvas
A secret relic from the world of Shinobi X - small, elusive, and never for sale.
Shadow Works are not displayed, only unlocked, a mirror moon to the Light work.
They are gifted to those who shape the story; the Hidden Hands who rallied too late, or the Lone Wolf who struck first, locking the path to Lionize.
The Phantom who haunted the others lets the Shadow work slip through their fingers.
To the Wolf, it is a mark of immediate action.
To the consortium, it is a trace of what could have been.
To the apparition it is something they cannot grasp.
You cannot buy Shadow work.
It is only attained in the wake of decisive action.
To unlock and secure Shadow work visit Purchase.

THE DARK WORK
The digital collectible
Not all art breathes on canvas or clings to walls.
Some exists between frequencies, encoded in silence, masked in light.
This is the Dark work - an enigma etched in digital mist, where language is both barrier and invitation.
Layers whisper in tongues lost and hidden.
Constellations of half erased memories and ghostly fragments.
Casting multiple shadows covetes a chain reaction, a chiaroscuro of meaning.
The Dark work is a test of patience and commitment.
Those who translate its language may not decipher its secrets.
Those who collect with indifference may not stand in its effulgence.
To unlock and collect Dark work visit Purchase.

OBSCURA
The elusive reward
Formless, shapeshifting and undefined.. a generous reward for the relentless loyalists. When multiple games of shadows played out, you owned all of the darkness and alchemised it into something radiant. Encrypted syllables revealed their most elusive message. Those who were consistent and persistent understand that undaunted lanterns never go out.
To unlock Obscura, collect Dark work in Purchase.

PRISM
The refracted light
Born from the same blade as the Light work, yet cut to a different edge, the Prism appears without warning. A fleeting, optical manifestation, refracted in the current Hideout. For a single turn of the sun, Prism stands beside its origin, linked by medium but thematically different; a unique convexed expression of light.
To unlock Prism, acquire Light work in Purchase.

HIDEOUT
The vacant property
A temporary refuge hidden in plain sight - an empty shopfront, a forgotten corner of the city, reclaimed for shadow dealings.
Within its walls, the Light work awaits discovery, an extradimensional realm to unlock further gradients.
But the Hideout is never permanent; if a lease is signed, the light vanishes without a trace. To the public, it's just vacant real estate. To those in the know, it's sacred ground.
To see the location of the current Hideout, visit Echolocation.

LONE WOLF
The direct collector
A fearless art seeker who strikes without warning.
They leave no fingerprints, just impact.
The Lone Wolf takes decisive action, bypassing the others, not sharing or sacrificing; the Light and Prism are theirs outright.
While the Phantom waits, before the hidden hands can assemble, the Lone Wolf has already left. Part rogue, part collector - they walk alone, but leave a lasting mark on the world of Shadowplay.

PHANTOM
The remote collector
The Phantom moves outside the game in a different dimension.
They do not play. They take.
Light works and Prism's are absorbed remotely without movement or effort, their patience at the turn of the moon is rewarded.
The Ninjaverse must remain in balance; with every benefit there must be a drawback. The Phantom does not share in the additional spoils that Wolves and Hands worked for.

HIDDEN HANDS
The consortium
A silent collective clan with the same financial interests; lowering the cost of the Light and unlocking more through stealth and unity.
Most Hidden Hands do not act alone - they Lionize together.
With pooled resources they "pledge individually to purchase collectively".
Some however position themselves on the chess board independently. Thinking several moves ahead, selected works can be coveted for free by tactics learned from Yokai.
Where the Lone Wolf and Phantom flex their purchasing power, the Hidden Hands tactically form syndic acquisition.

ECHOLOCATION
The Signal
A whisper cast in the city's maze, a pulse of presence that ripples through the unseen. You stand at the Hideout's threshold, feet rooted, eyes alert.
The walls remember your arrival, invisible handprints in front of glass, casting magic, communicating without speaking. Your presence is signaled without ever entering the Hideout, you Echolocate.
Echolocation is a way of navigating the dark.
In Shadowplay this sensory perception is to make your mark in the light.
The Hideout is a umbrous portal to creative dimensions.
No echolocation. No entry. Your movement is your message.

LIONIZE
The Pledge
The dust stirs in an empty Hideout, particles collide in a tyndall effect, a beam of light is put on a pedestal.
One by one, the metacarpus extends into the circle, volar surfaces meeting in layered silence, palm upon palm, a living tower of intent rises.
A quiet contract with the future, a pledge sealed not with gold in the hand, but with the promise of gold to come.
Ten is the number of completion and ten hands switch off the light for prowling Phantom's and Wolves.

MERCHANT
The Property owner
A powerful landowner with no interest in shadow games - only the value of the space itself and the gold it produces. Indifferent to who lines their pockets; a Ronin or even Shinobi X, the Merchant reclaims their territory without warning.
Their decisions are final.
When the Merchant acts, Lionize relocates - Shadowplay ends in that corner of the city.
To discover more about the Merchant visit Lionize.

KEYBLADE
The Property agent
A silent negotiator, keeper of keys and executioner of contracts, the Keyblade serves no clan - only the flow of time and territory.
They control the fate of Ninja Hideouts, relaying whispers of Ronin inspections and impending deals. To the Lone Wolf and Hidden Hands alike, the Keyblade is both gatekeeper and influencer. When they move, the shadows shift.
To discover more about the Keyblade visit Lionize.

RONIN
The Tenant
A drifter without allegiance, the wandering Ronin moves through vacant spaces in search of stability.
Ronin serve no masters and their presence signals danger to ninja - a lease may soon be claimed, and the Hideout lost.
Neither art collector nor clan member, the Ronin serves only opportunity to sell their own wares.
When they appear, time grows short.
To discover more about the Ronin visit Lionize.

YOKAI
The Tricksters
Tengu, Kitsune, Oni...friends, foes or maybe mirrors?
Each benevolent or mischievous depending on their temperament. They do not directly participate in Shadowplay but they influence it. Illusion casters of loyalty and deception, generating chaos for their own amusement.
Some say the yokai are Ningyo; ghostly dolls controlled by Omozukai; a master puppeteer in the void. Illuminated by gaslight, narrative breadcrumbs are left for strategic exploits of Shadowplay.
Prosperity and misfortune seem to go hand in hand as allegiances dissipate as quickly as they appear.

RELOCATION
The Shapeshifting
When a lease is inked in silence, the walls speak no more.
The Hideout has been claimed - not by Ninja, but by forces indifferent to art and mystery. The Keyblade has sealed a pact, and the Merchant reclaims the space.
This is the ritual of relocation - an enforced Seppuku of place. Shinobi claims redemption of the Light work, removed under the cover of the night.
A new drop will be coveted and light will emerge from Shadowplay once again.
Discover more about relocation in Lionize.

SEPPUKU
The Cutting
The blade of creation also maims. Each time Shinobi X projects light in a new Hideout, they do so knowing it walks the blade's edge. Hidden in plain sight, the artwork becomes both lure and sacrifice-displayed in a fleeting Ninja's Hideout, subject to the whims of Merchants, Blades and Ronin.
If no Hand Lionizes, no Phantom stirs or Lone Wolf strikes, the Light work faces creative seppuku: a ritualized cutting of the canvas with an X.
After three relocations without a rightful claimant, Shinobi performs the final act.
A Light work cast into the dark with no promise of return.
This is the price of Shadowplay. An exotelic loss for those who did not move, autotelic recompense for Shinobi and their creative process.
