They must visit the location and then purchase via QR code. This immediately locks out the ability for others to purchase the Light work.
The Lone Wolf also unlocks and keeps both the Shadow and Dark works (as long they are first to the Light work before a Hidden Hand Lionizes).
No. Phantoms claim their intent to purchase remotely online, this triggers a 24hr countdown.
The Lone Wolf & Hidden Hands will have 24hr to take action and secure the Light work before it is sold to the Phantom.
If no action is taken the Phantom secures the Light work for themselves and locks out the others ability to purchase the Light work.
No. Hidden Hands can only purchase the Light work if their presale is unlocked.
The presale is unlocked after 10 Hidden Hands have Lionized (pledged) at the location via QR code.

Their purchase blocks the others from purchasing the Light work.
Note: Up to 9 Hidden Hands can Lionize before the Lone Wolf purchases. If this happens one Shadow work and one Dark work (only) will be gifted amongst them all randomly, including the Lone Wolf.
The Phantom is not eligible to unlock Shadow work or Dark work (by purchasing Light work).
They can however obtain Penumbra & Anomaly by purchasing Prism.

If the Phantom has waited 24hrs and the Lone Wolf or 10 Hidden Hands failed to take action the Phantom secures the Light work for themselves..

If 10 Hidden hands have Lionized and unlocked the presale; the ability for the Lone Wolf and Phantom to purchase the Light work is locked.

How do I acquire Shadow work?
The Lone Wolf can acquire Shadow work 2 ways.

They are first at the location of the Light work and purchase it. By default they are gifted both the Shadow work and the Dark work.

They purchase the Light work after the Hidden Hands have Lionized (between 1-9). Both the Shadow work and the Dark work will be gifted randomly.

Note: If 10 Hidden Hands have unlocked the presale. All artworks are exclusively offered to the Hidden Hands.
The Phantom is not eligible for Shadow work.
They surrender these for the convenience of purchasing the Light work remotely.
They can however unlock Penumbra & Anomaly with Prism.
Hidden Hands can acquire Shadow work in a number of ways.

By unlocking the presale: After 10 Hidden Hands have Lionized (pledged). One Shadow work is gifted to one person randomly who has not received Light or Dark work.

By Lionizing before the presale is unlocked: 1-9 Hidden Hands who Lionize before a Lone Wolf or Phantom secures the Light work will be gifted one Shadow work at random. This includes the Lone wolf, the Phantom is not eligible.
Can I see Shadow work?

Dark work contains layers of text and symbols repeated. This is a collectible code that unlocks the undefined reward of Obscura.
There is only one type of Dark work available for each round of Shadowplay.
The Lone wolf (if first to purchase Light work) effectively stops Phantoms or Hidden Hands from obtaining Dark work in that round of Shadowplay

How does each collector complete the Dark work message to unlock Obscura?
Lone Wolves who secured one Dark work (by purchasing one Light work) own one word of the cryptic message.
To gain more words they need to own the other Dark works in succession over several rounds of Shadowplay.
This means they would need to purchase every Light work in a row before anyone else took action.
Even if they had the purchasing power to do so, it is unlikely logistically to be first to the Hideout every time.
A Lone Wolf may align with the actions of the Hidden Hands to make Dark work collecting more viable to unlock Obscura or secure an Anomaly through Prism.
The Phantom cannot secure Dark work by purchasing Light work.
They can only acquire Anomaly which is gifted with Prism.
As Prism's are released randomly it may not be viable to unlock Obscura with Prism's Anomaly alone.
Prism's Anomaly might be collected for its aesthetic value or to disrupt others chance of unlocking Obscura.
A Phantom may align with the actions of a Lone Wolf or Hidden Hands to make Dark work collecting more viable and unlock Obscura.
The Hidden Hands can employ a number of tactics to secure Dark work. Only one type of Dark work is available in each round of Shadowplay. Collecting these will uncover the full cryptic message.

So to unlock Obscura; collect 7 Dark works (and words) over 7 rounds of Shadowplay.
Once Obscura is unlocked it will be randomly gifted to one person amongst those who own all the Dark works (and words).

This stops any Hidden Hand from acquiring that Dark work (and word) for that round of Shadowplay.
If 1-9 Hidden Hands Lionize before a Lone wolf purchase 1 Dark work is randomly gifted to 1 person between all of them.
The same rules apply to Prism but instead of Dark work; Anomaly acts a substitute for those who missed out.
Yes. Phantom can only collect (previously released) Dark work (Dark Echo) through Prism.
As Prism artworks are released randomly it is not a viable way to collect all 7 Dark works.

When I acquire Prism do I unlock and secure the Shadow & Dark work?
Prism does not unlock Shadow or Dark work.

The Merchant is a NPC (non player character). Their actions still effect Shadowplay however.
The Merchant owns the Hideout and affect the existence of the exhibited artwork.They are in control of how long an artwork is exhibited.
Factors that change this are:

The Keyblade is a NPC & representative. An intermediary between the Merchant and Ronin.
The Keyblade manages operations around the Hideout and affect the time of exhibited artwork.

The Ronin is a NPC & potential tenant for the vacant space.

Who can enter the Hideout?
Anyone participating in Lionize and Shadowplay such as; Lone Wolf's, Phantoms and Hidden Hands

As the Merchant owns the Hideout they can enter when they want.
Shinobi X has permission from the Merchant to enter and exhibit inside the Hideout.

If a Light work has not been purchased after 3 Hideout relocations creative seppuku will be performed and the artwork will be cut with an X and destroyed.
Prism
If Prism has not been purchased after 24hrs it will be exhibited 2 more times randomly. This may be in the same location or another up to 2 Hideout relocations. If still not purchased it be cut with an X and destroyed.
Shadow work
As Shadow work is not seen or tied to a round of Shadowplay it will be preserved until gifted.
Dark work
Dark work contains a cryptic word unique to each round of Shadowplay.
If creative seppuku is applied to a Light work the Dark work is lost and Obscura cannot be unlocked.
